Yeast, Candida albican, overgrows in the intestinal or genito-urinary tract. The normal body flora is killed off by antibiotics and begins to grow and coexist with the useful germs. Mild infections of the skin, throat, vagina, bladder may begin at this time. Long term infestation or with weakened immune system, the yeast can shift into a fungal form developing rhizoids or roots that implant in the intestinal wall or other mucosal linings. By the way, we are loaded everywhere with mucosal linings. Run your tongue along your gums – that is mucosal lining. This allows absorption into the body of toxins or by products of fermentation and other antigenic material generated by fungus. The body then starts making antibodies to the Candida albicans organisms. This can lead to an imunological or hypersensitivity reaction

It occurs at a local level such as rashes and vaginitis or nail problems, and then systemic infections such as ringworm, headaches, fatigue, cystitis, mental symptoms, poor memory and concentration, depression, herpes PMS food reactions, mold sensitivity, dampness, cigarettes, smell and environmental pollutant sensitivity.

The best way to diagnose this is through the yeast connection type of questionnaire. A trial treatment program is also recommenced. Culture of a stool specimen may show the albican overgrowth as can colonoscopy. Blood levels of IgA, IgM, IgG performed by immunodiagnostic lab, such as Great Smokies is also an option. Ova and parasites are very common in yeast carriers and need to be addressed as well. Treatment may be needed to eliminate these parasites. When the normal colon bacteria are present in sufficient quantities, they will produce Vt. K and most B Complex, as well as aid in food digestion and protein. Greatly elevated IgG antibody levels will show they have reactions to baker’s and brewer’s yeast, wheat, milk, cheeses, mushrooms, eggs.

Simple sugars, fermented foods, alcohol cheese, vinegar, breads. Eat fish, poultry, meat, lots of veggies, whole grains, nuts, seeds, occasional eggs. Cold or expeller pressed oils, no simple carbohydrates.

Nystatin powder is the most commonly used western medicine treatment. It handles the intestinal yeast only. You can dissolve Nystatin in saline solution and using a dropper or inhaling the solution for sinus.

Other drugs are clotrimazone, miconazole, tinadazole and econazole. And are less toxic on the liver than diflucan and Nizoral.

Taking an enema with a small amount of nystatin in it will be useful during the initial phase to help cleanse the colon area. Caprylic acid is terrific for a follow up of Nystatin for several months. Capricin or Capystatin. Garlic is also helpful in killing some yeast. Add it to your regular regimen. Pau d’arco a Brazilian tree bark has popular herbal treatment of yeast, allergies and other immune problems. Taken in capsules or tea and drunk several times daily. The third stage is to repopulate the good yeast. This is where Optiflora is so wonderful. Triple encapsulated.

Supplemental hydrochloric acid with meals followed by digestive enzymes after eating can be helpful to break down and utilize protein, fats and foods in general. Shaklee has a new digestive enzyme that I strongly suggest be added to any program. It contains all the digestive enzymes we need for any food type. This can be used instead of the hydrochloric acid

GLA and EPA as inflammatory or allergic treatment. Extra B esp. with 300 mcg of biotin to replace those lost. Peppermint to heal the intestinal lining

  • I get tired and/or hungry in the mid-afternoon.
  • About an hour or two after eating a full meal that includes dessert, I want more dessert.

  • It is harder for me to control my eating for the rest of the day if I have a breakfast containing carbohydrates, than it would be if I had only coffee or nothing at all.
  • When I want to lose weight, I find it easier not to eat for most of the day than to try to eat several small diet meals.
  • Once I start eating sweets, starches, or snack foods, I often have a difficult time stopping.
  • I would rather have an ordinary meal that includes dessert than a gourmet meal that does not include dessert.

  • If potatoes, bread, pasta, or dessert are on the table, I will often skip eating vegetables or salad.

  • When I am not eating, the sight of other people eating is sometimes irritating to me.
  • I sometimes have a hard time going to sleep without a bedtime snack.
  • At times I wake in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep unless I eat something.
  • Before going to dinner at a friend’s house, I will sometimes eat something in case dinner is delayed.
  • Now and then I think I am a secret eater.
  • At a resaurant, I almost always eat too much bread, even befoe the meal is served.
